Dimmer controls reduce wattage and light output for fluorescent lamps. They are able to do this without reducing their efficiency as it does with incandescent lamps.
Occupancy sensor controls, which are similar to outdoor motion sensors, are used to detect activity within a room. They reduce lighting energy use by turning lights off soon after detecting that the last occupant has left a room.
Lighting timer controls are used turn on and off outdoor and indoor lights at specific times. They can be used effectively in combination with other controls, such as photosensors, that turn outdoor lights on when the sun begins to set.
