We help with Energy Rebate / Incentive paper work

VA / MD / BGE / SMECO / IRS

Types of Energy Audits:

Click here to see a sample energy survey, energy audit, or work scope. All EDGE Energy audits and surveys are completed to both HERS Chapter 7 and BPI Building Analyst / Envelope standards. See our Certifications page for more information.

HERS and/or BPI standards may be REQUIRED in your area to redeem rebates, tax credits, or incentives for energy improvements or testing.

A HERS certified Energy Survey (pricing) includes all of the following:

  1. Combustion Safety Testing
  2. Blower Door (building air infiltration test)
  3. Building Analysis and Visual Inspection
  4. Custom Work Scope (Home Performance w/ Energy Star)

Our BPI certified Diagnostic Home Energy Audit (pricing) includes all of the following:

  1. Combustion Safety Testing (HVAC)
  2. Blower Door (building air infiltration test)
  3. Infrared Scan of Buiding Envelope
  4. Building Analysis and Visual Inspection
  5. Computer Modelling of Home's Performance Data
  6. Compiled Energy Audit
  7. Custom Work Scope (Home Performance w/ Energy Star)

Advanced Home Energy Tests are available with a la carte (pricing):

  • add $95 - Solar PV Site Survey: Use professional solar GPS intrumentation. Calculate array size, ROI, feasibility study)
  • add $95 - Indoor Air Quality. Supply mail-in Radon test kit. Testing uses labortory-grade particulate counter to analyze indoor air pollutants. Hygrometers measure indoor moisture loads. Contact us for more details.
  • add $145 - Power Cost Meter Analysis: Use Power Cost / Kill-a-watt meters to measure current draws from accessible household lighting, appliances, and electronics. This is a great test for anyone who wants to formally rank to power-hungry items and identify behavioral measures. This test helps customers reduce energy consumption by managing chores, vampire loads, and electronic usage.
  • add $225 - Calibrated Duct Leakage. Tape off duct system and perform both total duct leakage and duct-leakage-to-outside. Calculate total volume and flow totals and convert to energy lost. On new homes, we use a party fogger to identify leaks for sealing. This test is generally NOT recommended for the average energy audit.
