Energy Audit Overview:

The first step to taking a whole-house energy efficiency approach is to find out which parts of your home uses the most energy. A Home Energy Audit will pinpoint those areas and suggest the most effective measures for cutting your energy costs. See our sample audit.

  • Idenitfy the type, size, condition, and rate of energy consumption for each major energy consumer in a house.
  • HVAC and mechanical inspections.
    • Recommend appropriate energy conservation, operation, and maintenance procedures.
    • Duct leakage testing (optional - additional fees apply)
  • Estimate costs and labor for energy retrofits.
    • Foam-sealing, duct sealing, and adding insulation
    • Strategic home weatherization and weather-stripping
    • Defining goals for alternative energy solutions (solar, wind, etc)
  • Project the savings estimated from energy retrofits.
  • Note current and potential health and safety problems and how they might be affected by the proposed changes.
    • Combustion Safety Testing
    • Natural gas leakage detection
    • Indoor Air Quality
  • Explain behavioral changes (for you and your family) that will reduce energy waste.

In order to deliver un-paralleled customer service, all EDGE Energy Raters must be certified by HERS and RESNET, who are affiliates of the United Stated Department of Energy (DOE) and EnergyStar programs.
