EDGE Energy is a highly-regarded Residential, Commercial, and Government renewable energy systems installer and “green” building contractor which is licensed, insured, and bonded in all counties of VA, DC, and MD. We design and install custom solutions for energy efficiency and renewable energy systems with pride and with a proven track record. Our special focus is completing projects which decrease customer utility bills and energy consumption by 25% to well over 100% – even creating homes that are “net-positive.”
Edge Energy has experience growth and success amid anything life can throw. We have stayed successful through a recession, the continual change of regulatory building codes, and limited access to financing options.
Our Company started in 2006 (out of a garage) with 2 employees. The founder, Jason Dispenza, graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 2000 and went onto the University of Virginia. As an engineer, economist, and entrepreneur, he is very passionate about domestic energy policies, local energy rebate programs, and ensuring the data and quality within the nascent energy industry produces meaningful results for both EDGE Energy’s clients and their wallets – but also our planet.
EDGE Energy has seen substantial growth over the past 6 years. We are now an ever growing company and we are about to expand into our fourth state. The Company employs a specially-trained work force who all have numerous building science, weatherization, and renewable energy system designations (see our Affiliates page). All of our project managers are accomplished building scientists and carry multiple certifications, such as ICC, ACCA, RESNET, BPI, NABCEP, NCI, LEED, and many others.
New business and construction contracts have stemmed largely from weatherization work subsidized by utility company rebate and incentive programs, federal IRS tax credits solar energy system projects, and low-income Weatherization Assistance Programs (WAP), which are managed by state DHCD offices and the Department of Energy. From 2007-2011, the Edge Energy completed over 2,000 home energy audits, air-sealing and insulation (weatherization) services in over 1,500 homes. In addition, we have installed over 250 kW of clean solar energy systems. And now we working to double those numbers with projects that have been increasing in frequency and complexity, as well as we are increasing our licenses so we can safely provide you the best service.
EDGE Energy is an accredited contractor with the Maryland Utilities’ Home Performance programs, EPA’s Energy Star Program, Maryland and Virginia Home Performance programs, the District of Columbia State Energy Utility, and others. Because of this EDGE Energy submits completed jobs for financial rebates, tax incentives, NAHB certificates, and ENERGY STAR labels for the benefit of our clients and homeowners.
As a core value to our customer service policy, we assist homeowners with their tax, grant, utility, and energy rebate paperwork… just trying to make “going green” easy.

Visit our project maps page to learn about homeowners in your neighborhood that have worked with EDGE in the past. Remember, EDGE Energy works with HOA’s, civic groups, trade organizations, office pools, or just simply any GROUP of organized homeowners interested in completing blocks of energy audits AND retrofit services like weatherization, duct-sealing, or air-sealing, and attic insulation. Many special pricing offers have been extended in the past due to the hard work of various “Neighborhood Champions” – those who have dedicated extra time to organizing group meetings, gathering email distribution lists, and assisting with scheduling.Project Maps
